Sri Maha Bodhi is sacred fig tree in the Mahamewna Gardens, It is
said to be the right-wing branch (southern branch) from the

Buddha attained Enlightenment. It was planted in 249 BC, and is the
oldest living human-planted tree in the world with a known planting
date. Today it is one of the most sacred relics of the Buddhist in
Sri Lanka and respected by Buddhists all over the world.

city of ancient dagobas, moonstones, beautiful parks, massive

Viharaya (rock temple) and the statue of one of Polonnaruwa’s,
great kings, Parakramabahu, are a few of this capital's memorable
sights. The Sea of Parakrama - a vast 12th century man-made reservoir
dominates the city. Although it is nearly 1000 years old, it is much
younger than Anuradhapura, and is in much better repair. Moreover,
the monuments here are located in a more compact area.

National Park is situated in the north-central plains of Sri Lanka,
20 kilometers from Polonnaruwa. The park encompasses the beautiful
Minneriya tank, built by King Mahasena (in 3rd century AD). This tank
is an incredible place to observe the elephants that come to bathe
and graze on the grasses as well as the huge flocks of birds
(cormorants, painted storks, open-bills, Pelicans and many other
species of waders) that come to fish in the shallow waters.

of India. It is one of the seven World Heritage Sites of Sri
Lanka.Sigiriya may have been inhabited through prehistoric times. It
was used as a rock-shelter mountain monastery from about the 5th
century BC, with caves prepared and donated by devotees to the
Buddhist Sangha. According to the chronicles as Mahavamsa the entire
complex was built by King Kashyapa (AD 477 – 495), and after the
king's death, it was used as a Buddhist monastery until 14th century.

heritage by the UNESCO in 1988.

1900, and, along with Wilpattu it was one of the first two national

national parks and three wildlife sanctuaries in the vicinity of
Yala. The park is situated in the dry semi-arid climatic region and
rain is received mainly during the northeast monsoon. Yala hosts a
variety of ecosystems ranging from moist monsoon forests to
freshwater and marine wetlands. It is one of the 70 Important Bird
Areas (IBAs) in Sri Lanka. Yala harbors 215 bird species including
six endemic species of Sri Lanka
